Code of Conduct

Last Updated: 21 October 2025

1. Our Mission and This Code

We founded Lingly to solve a real, human problem: the gap between knowing a language and having the confidence to use it at work. Our mission is to break down language barriers for frontline staff and give career-minded immigrants the targeted, workplace-specific English training they need to thrive.

This Code of Conduct is the foundation of our culture. It outlines the standards of professional and ethical behaviour we expect from ourselves and all team members. It is designed to ensure we operate with integrity, respect, and a relentless focus on our users' success, serving as a guide for our decisions and actions as we build Lingly together.

2. Our Core Values

Our values are derived directly from the reasons we started Lingly. They guide how we work with each other, our clients, and our users.

  • Champion Inclusion and Respect. Our purpose is to help create a more inclusive world. We foster a work environment that is free of harassment and discrimination, where every voice is valued and diverse perspectives are celebrated.
  • Empower Our Users and Each Other. We are here to empower people. Internally, we support each other's growth, communicate openly, and trust each other to do exceptional work.
  • Act with Integrity. The trust of our users and clients is our most important asset. We are committed to honesty, transparency, and ethical conduct in all of our business dealings. We say what we mean, and we do what we say.
  • Focus on Real-World Impact. We are building a product that solves a real problem. This pragmatism extends to how we work. We focus on what matters, take ownership of the results we deliver, and are committed to a high-quality, effective platform.

3. Professional Conduct and Work Environment

3.1. Respectful Workplace. Every member of the Lingly team has the right to a safe and respectful work environment. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, bullying, and any behaviour that creates a hostile or intimidating atmosphere.

3.2. Equal Opportunity. Lingly is an equal opportunity employer. All employment decisions will be made without regard to age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

4. Information Security and Data Protection

Protecting the data of our company, our clients, and our users is a fundamental responsibility. We handle personal information and must treat it with the utmost care.

4.1. Confidentiality. All team members may have access to confidential information, including user data, client information, source code, and business plans. This information must not be shared with anyone outside of Lingly without explicit authorisation. This obligation continues even after your employment with Lingly ends.

4.2. Acceptable Use of Assets. All company-provided equipment, accounts, and software are for business purposes. You are responsible for using these assets securely and ethically.

4.3. Access Controls. Team members must use strong, unique passwords and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on all company accounts where it is available. Login credentials must never be shared.

4.4. Data Handling. All sensitive data must be handled with care. Avoid storing sensitive data on personal devices or insecure networks. Be mindful of your surroundings when working in public places.

4.5. Reporting Security Incidents. If you suspect a security incident—such as a data breach, a lost device, or a phishing attempt—you must report it to a company founder immediately. Prompt reporting is crucial to minimising potential harm.

5. Business Ethics and Integrity

5.1. Conflicts of Interest. Avoid any situation that could create a conflict of interest, or the appearance of one, between your personal interests and the interests of Lingly.

5.2. Gifts and Bribery. Our client relationships are built on trust. We do not offer or accept bribes, kickbacks, or inappropriate gifts that could improperly influence business decisions.

5.3. Public Communication. Always be professional and respectful when communicating publicly about Lingly, including on social media. Remember that you are a representative of the company.

6. Breaches of this Code

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including the termination of your contract of employment. Any potential breach will be investigated thoroughly and handled fairly, in line with company procedure.
