About Lingly

What is Lingly?
Lingly is an AI-powered English training platform for international care workers and jobseekers in the UK. Users log on for 10 to 20 minutes a day and practise through conversation roleplay, vocabulary exercises, and short micro-activities generated from their own mistakes.
Who is Lingly for?
Lingly is for employability providers, care homes, and staffing agencies supporting international workers, particularly in adult social care, healthcare, and hospitality. It works for learners at CEFR levels A1 through B2.
How is Lingly different from traditional ESOL classes?
ESOL classes run at fixed times in fixed venues and teach general English. Lingly runs on mobile at any time and focuses on the specific English needed to find and do a job in the UK. A UK government study found 84% of ESOL learners showed no reading progression after 12 weeks of instruction. Lingly is built around that failure: short daily practice, job-specific content, and activities that adapt to each person's mistakes.
What do users actually do on Lingly?
Each session is 10 to 20 minutes. Users practise conversations with realistic AI characters, learn new words, work through micro-activities generated from their own mistakes, and do daily refreshes of topics they have covered before. There are no fixed class times or structured lessons in the traditional sense.
Can users study in their own language?
Yes. Explanations and translations are available in the user's native language throughout the platform.
What languages does Lingly support?
Lingly supports 40+ languages for in-app explanations and translations, including Romanian, Polish, Tagalog, Hindi, Bengali, and Somali. See the full list on our languages page.

Getting started

How quickly can we get started?
Once your organisation is set up, users can begin the same day. There is no waitlist and no intake window. The Lingly team designs a course for your organisation and gets participants onboarded within days.
How long does each session take?
Sessions are 10 to 20 minutes. Users can pick up and put down the platform at any point, so it works around shift patterns and unpredictable schedules.
Do users need a smartphone?
Yes. Lingly works on any modern smartphone with an internet connection. No laptop is required.

For organisations

What does the admin dashboard show?
Programme managers and employers can see per-learner data on engagement hours, activities completed, vocabulary progress, and conversation practice. It also tracks distance travelled: how far each learner has come since they started, so you can show improvement before, during, and after a programme. The data is designed to support case reviews, funding reports, and employer handoffs.
Can Lingly replace our ESOL provision?
For most employability and workforce upskilling use cases, yes. For learners who specifically need a CEFR-accredited qualification, or those who need foundational literacy support alongside language training, Lingly and ESOL can run in parallel.
Is Lingly GDPR compliant?
Yes. Lingly is registered with the ICO and holds Cyber Essentials certification. Full details are in our privacy policy and security page.
