Delete Your Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your account and associated data for the Lingly app, and what happens to your data when you do.

How to delete your account

In the app (fastest)

  1. Open the Lingly app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Account actions, tap Delete my account.
  4. Confirm on the first screen, then confirm again on the final screen headed “Are you sure?”.

Deletion happens immediately once you confirm. This cannot be undone or cancelled once submitted.

Without app access

If you cannot sign in to the app, you can request deletion by email instead:

  1. Send an email from the address registered to your Lingly account.
  2. Send it to support@lingly.ai.
  3. Use the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.
  4. State that you want your account deleted. No further details are needed — we use the sending address to verify the request.

We aim to acknowledge email requests within 1–2 business days and complete the deletion promptly once verified.

What is deleted, and what is kept

Once a deletion request is confirmed, we permanently delete:

  • Account and profile information — your name, email address, and login credentials.
  • Course and assessment assignments linked to your account.
  • Practice session and roleplay content — the transcripts, messages, and AI responses from your conversations are removed and disassociated from your account.

We may keep, for a limited time and not linked back to you as an individual:

  • Anonymised usage records, retained for aggregate reporting to the employer or organisation that provided your access, where applicable. These cannot be used to identify you.
  • Security and audit logs required for fraud prevention and legal compliance, kept for up to 7 years as described in our Data Retention Policy.
  • Backup copies of the database, which persist briefly until routine backup rotation removes them.
  • Anything we are legally required to retain, for example records needed to resolve an active legal claim.

For full detail on how long each category of data is normally kept, see our Data Retention Policy.

If you use Lingly through an employer

If your account was set up by an employer or training provider, they remain the data controller for your account under our Privacy Policy. Your employer may keep their own records independently of any deletion request you make to us.
